The Bee’s Yellow Leggings

My earlier bee photos caught them sampling the local verbena.  These two photos document their appearance after they have spent some time checking out our sunflower forest.  This also means that it is later in the day. Therefore, I was not able to get as “close” as I did with the verbena photos. Bees are a tad camera shy.

The yellow pollen quickly builds up, making them looking ever so much as if they were cast members or clowns in a Cirque du Soleil performance…

Pollen from “head to toe” and back again…

The bee’s knees…

Could not resist adding another bee photo to the collection.  Again, as in Busy As A…  the setting is the verbena…

As a side note, the font selected for the watermark happens to be called BeesKnees. Of course I just had to use it here!

Sunflower “Cream” The color…

The usual expectation for sunflowers is some shade of yellow. There are also orange and red varieties.

Early this morning, I was checking to see if any of our “reds” were blooming–they’re late this year–and found this instead…

Fortunately, there are several buds on this stock so I should have no trouble collecting seeds. I may call it the “Eggnog” Sunflower!

The Box Show

The Box Show at Gallery Route One in Point Reyes, CA (For Details, Click Here) features many unusual pieces of art–all based on the same sized box.

While I make no claim to being an artist, I did have some fun with the sign outside the gallery promoting this year’s show.

The photo is presented here just as it came off the camera.  No tinkering or editing.  The illusion of a three-dimensional cube suspended in mid-air is created by the angle of the photo, the lighting, plus a touch of luck.
